The eyes of Christ view the world differently than the world views itself. Values, priorities and expectations change when we learn to look through eyes given by the crucified, risen and returning Savior.

the Favre trade issue

Alright. Here it is - the definitive answer to the buring question on most minds interested in the NFC North: Where should Brett Favre play next year?

Obvious, TT doesn't want Favre messing up his grand scheme to bring Aaron Rodgers into the Green Bay leadership; fine. I like the thought. I like the direction. And, although this is clearly a, "win it all, now" league, I like the fact the Thompson has concentrated on taking an old and dying team which might have had a shot for a year or two and turning it into a young and growing team which will have many, many shots for many years to come. Sure, we'll always be turning players over, but our team is young, and our team is talented.

What our team isn't - and especially the leadership (read: Rodgers) is experienced.

And so this is what I propose: Trade Brett Favre to the Minnesota Vikings.

Here's the thing - Brett's got a year... maybe two, at the most. Therefore, while he is by far the best player on the market for a trade, and by far the biggest difference maker, he will not be around for long. And, it means he's probably going to be cheaper, because teams aren't going to pay the big bucks for a player who won't be a franchise member. This is a pre-season baseball trade - trying to score the one big one to send your team over the edge.

There is only one team out there that needs a HOF Quarterback to send them to the playoffs. There is only one team that, with Favre, would be an immediate contender. Let's be serious. The Jets?! They still play in the toughest division in the league - they still will be hard pressed to make a wildcard spot. The Bucs? Good, but they have a decent quarterback whose already on his last legs. You scrap him for Favre, and then in two years your worse off than you are now... and, you probably are without a ring. The Bills? Get serious.

The Vikings, with Brett Favre, can win the Super Bowl. No one contests that. And that means they should be willing to pay for a SuperBowl. What about a first round in 2009 and a fourth in 2010? That's steep... but they're the only team were going to get a high price tag out of.

Meanwhile, we'll still probably get a wildcard spot, and we'll get a year of experience under Rodgers belt. Next year, the Vikings are both strapped for cash, have limited draft picks, have no quarterback, and are a non contender. We have a team which, for all intensive purposes is the same (no big free agents coming up in 2009), a couple of extra draft picks to firm up our secondary and o-line, and are sitting pretty on top of the division again.

And we give those poor Vikings a run at the playoffs.
